Admittedly it's a first draft, but I finally managed to find the time to sit down and write the prologue of Use'ara, in which all hell breaks loose on the ship's bridge.
Here is a minute snippetlet...
"Damn it, we need an engineer." Mathias turned in his seat and Lindsay cringed at the expression with which he fixed Rhostov.
"I woke Brackton," Rhostov answered, his calm tones beginning to falter. "I followed protocol."
Suddenly wanting to defend the man, Lindsay ran his hand over another bank of controls, calling up the LiSSSC status board.
"Shit!" he hissed.
"Lin?" Mathias softened.
"Life support malfunctions. Brackton's LiSSSC may not have disengaged his sleep cycle."
"Wake the secondary engineer," Mathias ordered decicively, but out of the corner of his eye, Lindsay saw Rhostov shake his head.
"There's no time," the man whispered.
The total count of the novel so far is approx 1200 words. I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere.

Use'ara: Thirteen Stars
It seems appropriate that the first post in this blog should be about a 'beginning.'
I'm very excited today because, about an hour ago I finished putting together a complete outline for the Use'ara novel, the world for which, (it's a sci-fi/fantasy and therefore required a detailed setting), has been in development for the last couple of years.
I'm impressed with the way the outline came together, and can already feel some of the scenes following hard on the heels of the creative process that brought the outline into existence today. I suppose then, the next thing to do is to set myself a modest goal - at least until after my mid-September wedding - of say... 500 words per day?
We'll see how that goes.
